Do you know what to do if you find Giant Hogweed on site? Would you recognise Himalayan Balsam? And do you know the risks posed by Japanese Knotweed?

Over the past weeks, our invasive species GO SAFE campaign has targeted these three species in particular. They can have a big impact on our sites, as they cause major problems for the local environment. Even worse, Giant Hogweed’s poisonous sap presents a health hazard to anyone on site.

To help our staff deal with this troublesome trio, we are launching a new pocket guide to invasive species. This includes vital information on how to recognise each plant, what threat they could pose and how to manage their presence on site.
